Define Wellness Chiropractic & Functional Medicine
Dr. Bret and Dr. Cheryl both grew up in small towns, he in Wisconsin, and she in Missouri. The doctors met at Logan University, where they obtained their Doctorate of Chiropractic degrees. Both Dr.'s are very passionate about providing the best life possible for their patients. They have even developed their own supplement line, and proudly stand behind products they know work. The decision to open their main location in Palencia stems from their passion of a community feel "The first day we drove through Palencia and greeted people in surrounding businesses and walking on the sidewalks, we knew we wanted to be a part of this beautiful community. We were not treated as strangers, people took their time to speak with us and we felt a warmth in this area that we wanted to be a part of. There were a lot of options where to open our new office, but in our hearts, there was no other choice."
Define Wellness Chiropractic & Functional Medicine combines the latest Chiropractic techniques, research and technology to give the patients the best care possible. We are conveniently located in St. Johns county in the Palencia neighborhood and just minutes from World Golf Village and Nocatee.
We believe that the pursuit for optimal wellness is an active process of making choices toward a more healthy existence. We strive for objectivity in chiropractic, nutritional healthcare and provide clear options in Functional Medicine. We help residents throughout the Jacksonville and St. Augustine region reach optimum health, so they can reach their fullest potential in life.

Dr. Cheryl Koelling
After her undergraduate degree from UMSL in St. Louis Missouri and before completing her Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Cheryl worked as the youngest regional manager of the largest SEA non profit group for those with disabilities in Missouri. During this time her passion for helping others grew and she knew that she wanted to do more. This career propelled her into the direction of helping at a higher level. Dr. Cheryl had a history of receiving chiropractic care since she was a child and admired the philosophy of healing with the hands and natural medicine in the place of pharmaceuticals. Having benefited from treatment herself, and wanting to share that passion with others she began a four-year long Doctor of Chiropractic program.
Dr. Cheryl expanded her education to include Functional Medicine Training in addition to the rigorous Doctor of Chiropractic education.
Functional Medicine addresses the underlying cause of disease, and treats the entire person, not just the symptoms.
Dr. Cheryl was accepted into the first Viscero-Somatic Health Clinic in the country during her residency where she excelled in treating patients with chronic disease including: diabetes, arthritis, obesity, depression, and much more.
Through her additional training and diverse residency experience she has multiple success stories highlighting her skills as a physician.
She has a history of dance and loves to share community well-being. She is the brain behind the barre fitness classes offered at Define Wellness, and choreographs all classes based on working sets of muscle groups in unison and preventing injuries for participants while achieving their fitness goals.
When not treating patients, Dr. Cheryl spends her time enjoying her passions consisting of volunteering, supporting local business, and anything to do with animals.
